Casa Manuel Arriaga

Manuel de Arriaga House is the house where the first President of the Portuguese Republic, Manuel de Arriaga, was born. He was elected on August 24, 1911. 

This modern and interactive space opened in 2011 during the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Portuguese Republic. The museum evokes Manuel de Arriaga as well as the republican ideals of the 19th century in Portugal. The exhibition, composed of photographs, objects, film screening, digitalized documentation, and a library, provides detailed information about the history of the First Portuguese Republic.
